Fatal accident in Bailleau-le-Pin: one of the young people who died was due to take his baccalaureate this Wednesday, June 19, in Dreux

A road accident involving three cars left seven dead on Tuesday June 18, around 6:50 p.m., in Bailleau-le-Pin, near Chartres. Among them, five young people, born between 2005 and 2007, educated in the department.

Several high schools and colleges in the department woke up in mourning this Wednesday, June 19. The evening before, on the RD 921, in Bailleau-le-Pin, forty-three firefighters responded to the scene of a tragic accident where seven people lost their lives. Among them, an 85-year-old man, an 80-year-old woman and five young people aged 17 to 19. The latter were educated in the department, in the past or even today. One of them was due to take his baccalaureate in Dreux this Wednesday, June 19 morning.

Set up a psychological unit

“It was a tragic and terrible accident that took place,” says Evelyne Mège, academic director of the National Education Services in Eure-et-Loir. “My thoughts are with the families.” Its role in the face of such a tragedy: to ensure that students close to the victims are psychologically supported. Thus, several support units have been installed in middle and high schools in Eure-et-Loir. “A first emergency support team has been set up with a psychologist, a nurse, a social worker… We have deployed the necessary resources.”

Two middle schools and one high school

The Gilbert-Courtois trades high school in Dreux, the Mathurin-Régnier college in Chartres and the Marcel-Proust college in Illiers-Combray are affected by this tragedy. Psychological units were therefore set up in these establishments, as well as at the Silvia-Monfort high school in Luisant, where one of the young people who died was a former student. “High school students knew victims,” assures management. “We are ready to receive the words of young people, we are there, alongside our students.”

Among the young people who died, there were two brothers and sisters.
