In the Valencia region, some roads remain impassable due to mud and debris of all kinds. Many people have not yet been able to return home. Rail connections between Madrid and Valencia should in principle resume on Thursday.

Due to the new alert, several localities decided to close schools on Wednesday. This is particularly the case of the village of Chiva, particularly affected by the “dana” (an isolated depression at high altitude which causes sudden and extremely violent rains) of October 29. Classes will remain suspended “until further notice” in view of “the current state of the municipality”. The authorities of the city of Valencia have taken a similar decision for establishments in the southern districts.

For its part, the municipality of Algemesí, also affected at the end of October, advises its population to protect homes by placing wooden panels or barriers at the entrance. The sewers, already clogged with mud from the previous episode, may not be able to absorb further rain.
