22-year-old defender Silvan Vallner has announced his retirement from Football just two months after signing a contract with Austrian club Blau-Weiss Linz. The Swiss player has decided to devote himself to his faith, which no longer allows him to engage in professional sports, reports TMW.
“I am a deeply faithful Christian and I read the Bible. I make decisions in my life based on that. I strive to follow Jesus Christ, and observing a biblical day of rest has become important to me. me,” Vallner said.
According to Blick, Vallner is a member of the Free Church of Seventh-day Adventists. In this religious denomination, Saturday is considered a day of rest, during which work or any activity is prohibited in order to devote the day entirely to God.
Vallner, who became Swiss champion in 2022 with FC Zurich and represented the Swiss national youth teams, played his last match in the Austrian league on October 26.
