The famous scammer of vast VAT fraud is accused of not repaying the money he owes to justice even though he does not seem to be without resources.

Is this a new trick from the “king of scams”? Marco Mouly, convicted in the “carbon tax” affair, was taken from his cell Monday morning to be heard by investigators from the Economic Crime Repression Brigade (BRDE), the Paris prosecutor’s office said in Figaro, confirming the information from BFMTV. He is suspected of having organized his insolvency with the French justice system in order not to pay the fines to which he was sentenced.

In 2017, Marco Mouly and Arnaud Mimran were sentenced on appeal to eight years in prison and a fine of one million euros for having organized a gigantic VAT fraud on the pollution rights market. Two years later, “Marco the Elegant» is again convicted in a case of organized gang fraud dating from the end of the 1990s. For these facts, he received a fine of 15,000 euros, an obligation to exercise a professional activity and to submit to psychological monitoring. In mid-May, he was imprisoned again after his suspended sentence was partially revoked, for non-compliance with his obligations. It appears he was not paying back the money he owed from his convictions.

At the same time as his placement in detention, the courts investigated Marco Mouly’s lifestyle. She questions in particular the fact that the copyright of her autobiography The mare published by HarpersCollins, were collected by his daughter Cindy and not himself, which would nevertheless have allowed him to pay the fines in question. His daughter, but also his wife, had also been placed in police custody at the beginning of June in connection with this affair, specify our colleagues from BFMTV. While the person concerned declares himself without resources, he is also able to pay the rent for a plush apartment in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

This Monday, Marco Mouly was therefore taken from the Santé prison in order to be heard as part of a preliminary investigation opened for “insolvency organization“, “judgment fraud” And “misuse of corporate assets“. He is currently still in police custody.
