8:03 a.m. – Start of live

Hello everyone, welcome to this live. It’s the big day for the Alpes-Maritimes: our department is hosting the 34th stage of the Olympic torch relay. For its grand return to mainland France, after passing through overseas communities, the flame… will emerge from the water! In less than 5 minutes, Alice Modolo, world freediving vice-champion, will carry the flame into the bay of Villefranche.

A historic Olympic day

The Olympic flame returns from overseas via the Mediterranean, a technological and sporting feat which will be carried out by Alice Modolo, world freediving champion, first torchbearer of the day.

Many athletes, including Maxime Montaggioni, Alexis Pinturault, Sébastien Camus, Alizé Cornet, singer Ben Mazué and Stéphane Diagana as the last torchbearer will participate in the event. Activities are planned in Nice, in the port area.

In terms of traffic, the day promises to be complicated, since it will be prohibited during the passage of the flame in the towns, on the routes, and the same for parking. Enough to worry many Côte d’Ivoire residents who are getting organized.
