What are these new unlimited plans at €2/month worth?

At the moment, mobile operators are waging a new merciless war. That of the one who offers the cheapest package. And making less than 2 euros per month is complicated. As a result, there are now a plethora of mobile plans at this price. Are they worth it? We have dissected them for you.

It’s the race for low prices among operators

All it took was a flash offer (that of Cdiscount Mobile for less than 2 euros per month) for the world of telephony to go into overdrive. After the success of this ephemeral offer, many virtual mobile operators have decided to do the same. Among them, we can cite NRJ Mobile with its new package offering 2 GB for 2 euros. Simple and efficient. The package also offers unlimited calls, SMS and MMS, and 2 GB roaming.

The SFR subsidiary, RED by SFRfollowed suit and currently offers a package for just 1.99 euros including unlimited calls, SMS and MMS as well as 2 GB in France and mainland France. Prixtel and Syma Mobile have also stepped into the breach. We thus have the L’Essentiel package at Prixtel and the aptly named Le Un at Symaboth including 2 GB of data for 1.99 euros per month with unlimited telephony.

Are these €2 packages interesting?

Two euros for a mobile plan is a more than interesting price. And this is also the main advantage of these formulas: their little price. These are packages ideal for a young teenager, or grandparents. Furthermore, their lack of commitment is a real asset because you can change offers very easily if they do not suit you or no longer suit you. It is also very interesting to subscribe to this type of package if you connect mainly via Wi-Fi and very little via 4G.

Conversely, if you use a lot of data, the 2 GB allocated in these low-cost subscriptions are likely to quickly prove insufficient. If this mobile plan is not suitable for your daily use, you risk quickly finding yourself stuck. Not enough freedom, excluding package, additional costs… So many inconveniences that no one wants to endure every month.

In short, if you are part of the average French person who consumes, according to ARCEP, around 15 GB of mobile data per month, move on. These offers are primarily aimed at all small consumers, those who are constantly connected to their personal Wi-Fi hotspot or who almost never use their smartphone to browse the Internet or hang out on social networks. Likewise, if you like to wander outside our borders, you risk quickly being limited by the allocated envelope. With only 2 GB on average usable in the French Overseas Territories and within the European Union, you are likely to quickly reach the limit and skyrocket your bill.
