The leaders of the “Les Volontaires du Oui” platform, a grouping of 123 associations from Greater Libreville (Owendo, Akanda, Ntoum and Libreville) and 25 other associative structures from within the country, during a large meeting organized this Sunday November 10 in Libreville, announced their determination to make the “yes” vote triumph in the referendum that Gabon is organizing on November 16 to, they say, finally break with the old order.
“This referendum is a pressing opportunity offered to Gabon to definitively break with the old order, resolutely committing our country to the voice of democracy and its multiple social and economic corollaries”declared Cyrille Séverin Byssiengou, representative of the coordination of the Yes Volunteers.
The Yes Volunteers believe that the new constitution offers new Hope to the Gabonese people who were long martyred by the power deposed on August 30, 2023. This power was embodied for 56 years by the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG). For the youth of this platform, there is no longer any question of the former barons of this “power vomited by the people” coming to deceive the people again.
“We are turning our backs today on these blackmailers who, out of shame or to exist, want to distract us by calling for a no vote; let’s show them through the vote of a massive yes, that young people no longer want to be spectators but actors”, launched Aymar Romaric Nono, youth representative.
In the same spirit, the women of the Yes Volunteers are resolutely committed to making yes triumph for the future of the Gabonese people who have suffered too much.
For Aimée Félicité Essoue epse Essono-Eni, “women will be a key actor and architect of the long-awaited yes plebiscite to put our country on the rails of development and break with a certain lethargy”.
