A fire broke out in an apartment in a building on rue Louis-Demarest, in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, south of Rouen (Seine-Maritime), this Monday, November 11, 2024. Two victims were treated by the firefighters and the Smur, one of them was seriously injured.

3:47 p.m., this Monday, November 11, 2024. The Seine-Maritime firefighters were called for smoke escaping from the outbuildings of a building located rue Louis-Demarest, in Sotteville-lès-Rouen.
A woman and a man taken care of
The fire came from an apartment on 3e floor of this residential tower which has five in total. Arriving on site, the firefighters discovered that the sofa was on fire. The two occupants of the accommodation are taken care of by the firefighters and the Smur. “A woman of around 50 years old is seriously injured,” indicates the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis). The second victim, a man also aged around fifty, was more lightly injured.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire around 4:15 p.m., before carrying out clearing and ventilation operations. Nine residents were evacuated.
