Five people were killed and another injured overnight from Sunday to Monday during a Russian drone attack on the town of Mykolaiv, in southern Ukraine, according to local authorities.
The city's mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych, says that Russia attacked last night using kamikaze dronesdestroying a house and damaging a residential building which caught fire following the attack.
At the same time, in Zaporizhia, three Russian strikes left one dead and at least 21 injured, including children.
The Ukrainian National Police reports that the strikes, carried out using FAB-500 bombs, partially destroyed a residential building.
Furthermore, the head of the military administration of the Donetsk oblast, Vadym Filashkin, announced Monday morning on Telegram that two people died and several were injured in strikes on Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk.
He adds that the oblast has been targeted by fifteen Russian bombings since Sunday and that 142 people have been evacuated from the front line, including eleven children.
Finally, on Monday morning, a bombing on a building in Kryvyi Rih left eight people injured, including several children, according to the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak.
These strikes occur while Russia launched its biggest drone attack on Ukraine since the invasion beganUkrainian air defenses having detected a record number of 145 drones overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
Ukraine responds to Russian advances
Russia continues to gain ground in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk, and Ukrainian forces are increasingly stretched along the front line.
However, Ukraine continues to respond by launching a vast drone campaign on Moscow and its suburbs during the night from Sunday to Monday.
The Russian Defense Ministry says a total of 84 Ukrainian drones have been shot down on Russian territory, following what it calls“massive attack on civilian infrastructure”. According to the governor of the Belgorod region, a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border, man died under rubble after drones hit his building.
Five other people were injured in Ramenskoe, a suburb of Moscow, and in a neighboring village, according to local authorities. Russian Telegram channels claim that drone debris set suburban houses on fire.
Josep Borrell continues his visit to Ukraine
These incidents occur while the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has been in Ukraine since Saturday to assure Kyiv of European support after the election of Donald Trump in the American presidential election.
“The message is clear: Europeans will continue to support Ukraine”declares the head of EU diplomacy, who will leave office next month. “We have supported Ukraine from the beginning, and for my last visit to Ukraine, I convey the same message: we will support you as much as possible”.
On Monday morning, the Ukrainian Air Force launched an alert message on Telegram mentioning a “danger of missiles throughout Ukraine” as eight Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bombers took off towards the country.
