The match on the 11th day of Ligue 1 between Le Havre and Reims was interrupted on Sunday for a few minutes due to homophobic chants heard in the aisles of the Océane stadium.
The 11e Ligue 1 day was marked by new incidents in the stands. In addition to the throwing of tennis balls on the lawn in Lens and Angers, homophobic chants were heard on Sunday during the meeting between Le Havre and Reims. They were chanted at the hour mark by the Normandy supporters present in the aisles of the Océane stadium and they were targeting the Professional Football League.
The referee immediately interrupted the match, while Le Havre captain Abdoulaye Touré asked the Le Havre Ultras to stop these chants. Discussions also took place between the different officials to discuss a possible stoppage of the match before the announcer made an announcement to indicate that the match would be definitively stopped at the next interruption.
But new chants were heard a few minutes later without the match being interrupted. And it finally came to an end with the large victory of Reims (0-3), which returned to success after three consecutive defeats. For its part, Le Havre has relapsed and could have to explain itself to the LFP disciplinary committee for these incidents.
