Dr. Yohan Legallois, orthopedic surgeon, hip and knee specialist, came to strengthen the team of SOS Genoa (3 surgeons including 2 in South-Gironde) with Dr Julien Bardou-Jacquet, at the Sainte-Anne clinic in Langon (Gironde).
SOS Genou is a service dedicated to knee trauma (sprain, menisci, cruciate ligamentsetc.) deployed on three sites in Gironde:
- The Tivoli Ducos Clinic in Bordeaux
- The medical office at Saint-Loubès
- The Sainte-Anne clinic in Tongue
It ensures optimal patient care by a multidisciplinary team mobilized within 24 hours.
The goal is to provide a simple and easy service for all knee injuries.
A unique telephone number has been created – the 09 72 76 17 62 – with a telephone secretariat, a website: sos-genou.fr.
A knee injury for a delayed emergency is managed directly by the team of specialist surgeons.
“This allows you to quickly find a consultation within 24 hours on one of the three dedicated sites in Gironde, a slot for an x-ray or MRI within 48 hoursfollowed if necessary by medical or surgical treatment,” adds the surgeon.
500 consultations in 2024
Since the beginning of 2024, SOS knee has supported 500 consultations et around fifty patients in the operating room.
“There is then a network of physiotherapists and sports doctors for quality care,” adds Dr Yohan Legallois. The strength is to have the team available for a blocked knee and to resolve it within 24 hours or 48 hours. These are most often meniscal and ligamentous lesions. We communicated with health professionals in Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne (Marmande, Duras, Tonneins). »
Three new anesthetists in the operating room
Three new anesthetists-resuscitatorsDr Laure Martinat, Dr Alexandre Gerardin, Dr Marc Tonnellier, joined Dr Harry Hooper at the beginning of October to offer team work in the anesthesia and intensive care unit of the Sainte-Anne clinic.
“This was a real expectation from the surgical teams and patients,” underlines general director Arnaud Troissant. It is a young team trained within university hospitals with innovative techniques”
The operating room with this young team of anesthetists is the heart of the clinic's reactor.
The team of anesthetists wants to “develop a project resolutely geared towards greater proximity and modernity in patient care”.
60 practitioners
The Sainte-Anne clinic welcomes 60 private practitioners. The average age is 40 years old. “This allows us to secure the sectors and the care offer,” specifies general director Arnaud Troissant.
“We want to bring a new dynamic to the team,” explains Dr. Harry Hooper, “and pool together for better patient monitoring. We all use the same anesthesia techniques to more tailored support for the patient, favoring loco-regional anesthesia as far as possible, fine analgesia techniques and innovative anesthesia practices (such as that known as 'WALANT' ; it allows the surgeon to operate on the hand of a fully awake patient – without having to apply a tourniquet – and thus facilitate the mobility of the limb according to the surgeon's instructions). This allows to fight pain more effectively and promote rapid recovery after surgery (RAAC). »
The team is expanding with the recruitment ofnurse anesthetists. “Teamwork helps optimize the patient journey and follow-up,” concludes Dr. Laure Martinat.
