Belgian soprano Jodie Devos died, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on June 16, 2024 in Paris at the age of 35 following breast cancer which had forced her to cancel several recent commitments. She was considered one of the most talented lyrical artists of her generation.

After studying at the Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur and the Royal Academy of Music in London, in 2014 she won the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium.

She has performed on the biggest international stages and collaborated with renowned conductors and directors.

Among the notable productions of his career: Die Zauberflöte and On purge Bébé at the Théâtre royal de La Monnaie, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Le Nozze di Figaro, Rigoletto and Hamlet at the Opéra royal de Wallonie-Liège, Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Les Indes galantes at the Paris National Opera, Fantasio at the Opéra Comique, Dialogues des Carmelites at the Opéra National du Capitole de Toulouse, La Vie Parisienne and L’Elisir d’amore at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Guillaume Tell at the Chorégies d’Orange, Lakmé at the Opéra de Tours, Lucie de Lammermoor at the Opéra de Québec, Hamlet in Cincinnati and at the Radio France Occitanie-Montpellier Festival…

She was regularly invited by numerous orchestras and ensembles: the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Brussels Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of France, the Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra de Lille, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cappella Mediterranea, Le Concert de la Loge, Les Talens lyriques, Les Ambassadeurs-La Grand Écurie, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, Insula orchestra…

Jodie Devos has recorded numerous CDs under the Alpha Classics label. His first album “Offenbach coloratura” in collaboration with Palazzetto Bru-Zane was unanimously praised by critics and rewarded with numerous prizes.

She was an honorary citizen of the city of Namur.
