In a new documentary titled “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness”, the Prince of Wales made a notable mention of his brother Harry, a first in six years. Indeed, the future king of England had not publicly spoken his brother’s name since 2018, during a joint interview at the Royal Foundation Forum. This evocation, far from being trivial, would in reality be orchestrated by Kate Middleton, who is working behind the scenes for a reconciliation between the two brothers.
An active mediator princess for family peace
The Princess of Wales, currently battling cancer, would have strongly encouraged her husband to mention her brother in this new documentary. A source close to the couple reveals: “Kate was really behind this helping hand and has spent more time recently encouraging him to do more in his attempt to heal their conflict“. The same source adds that “Kate is desperate for them to reconcile and believes the feud has gone on far too long“.
The princess’s efforts come in a particularly tense context. Indeed, since Harry and Meghan’s withdrawal from their royal duties in 2020, the rift has deepened considerably, notably following a series of controversial interviews, a Netflix documentary and the publication of Harry’s memoir, “Spare”. Despite everything, Kate Middleton seems determined to play the role of mediator to restore family harmony.
A moving reminder of a shared childhood
In the documentary, Prince William recalls a touching memory from his childhood, shared with his brother and their late mother, Princess Diana. “My mother took me to The Passage, she took Harry and me there… I had never seen anything like it before and I was a little nervous about what to expect“, he says. This sequence, accompanied by moving archive images, shows the two princes, still children, alongside their mother, visiting a homeless shelter in London.
However, despite this symbolic outstretched hand, reconciliation is not yet a reality. During Prince Harry’s recent visit to London for the WellChild Awards, the two brothers did not meet. Prince Harry is also continuing his own path, multiplying solo appearances with ten engagements in the space of 15 days, as part of a tour across three countries, notably in New York, London and Lesotho.
