A fire in a Seveso classified waste management center, near

The company Triadis in a plume of smoke. A fire broke out on the industrial site from the Haie des Cognets industrial zone, in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, near Rennes, on the night of Saturday November 9 to Sunday November 10. The fire was brought under control by firefighters, who extinguished the two fires and cleared the site at 3 a.m.

Homes spared from smoke

The company, which ensures the grouping, transit, sorting and pre-treatment of industrial and community waste, is classified Seveso high threshold. “The absence of wind during the night limited the dispersion of the smoke which remained concentrated in the form of a vertical plume which did not reach the first homes”reassures the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine, in a press release. Furthermore, the extinguishing water used by firefighters is stored to be analyzed and treated.

The fire was limited to a few cans of paint, according to the mayor of the town, Marie Ducamin. No elected official visited the site, which would have been the case in the event of proven pollution.
