This Saturday, November 9, France Football magazine revealed the details of the votes of journalists, jurors for the 2024 Ballon d’or. The Manchester City midfielder beat Vinícius Jr. of Real Madrid by 41 points, the latter being considered as the favorite for the Ballon d’or.
Of the journalists who voted, three of them gave Vinícius no points, meaning he was excluded from their selection of ten footballers. These journalists come from El Salvador (Bruno Porzio, El Grafiticto TV), Namibia (Sheefeni Nikodemus, The Namibian and Desert Radio), and Finland (Juha Kanerva, Ilta-Sanomat).
During the day, Juha Kanerva, a Finnish journalist who voted for the Ballon d’Or, announced his “resignation” from the jury. “This is a technical error on my part, for which I take responsibility. I’m leaving my voting seat for the Ballon d’Or,” wrote the journalist from Finnish media Ilta-Sanomat on .
