Despite an end to the match spoiled by two Angers goals in quick succession, PSG put in a good performance in Angers and very logically won. A look back at the individual performances of the Parisians on a case-by-case basis.
Donnarumma: Ultimately preferred to Safonov, the Italian conceded two more goals but it is completely impossible to blame him for the first. He was a little more at fault in the second, with a save that seemed possible. But before these stoppages in play which cost PSG dearly, the Italian goalkeeper was always focused and present while the SCO regularly made incursions into its area. Above all, he superbly won a duel against Niane at 2-0 when a goal from Angers would have changed everything.
Judge: Faced with a team that expected PSG to be close to their goal, the Moroccan certainly did not hold back from attacking and he was able to have a blast. He also played more than usual on the right side and increased his attacks from his flank, delivering some good crosses that his partners did not really exploit well. On the other hand, he also signed two very nasty passes which offered opportunities to Angers.
Zague replaced him at the break and the young right-back got back on track well. In a match already won, he knew how to show himself in his best light. As offensive as Hakimi, he knew how to alternate well-felt individual attempts and insertion into the collective game in order to make his partners shine. Marquinhos never hesitated to throw it and Zague responded well. He can probably do better on his big chance against Fofana but the copy was good overall.
Marquinhos: Among the rare starters who played the two matches of the week, the captain did not seem to suffer in the least from fatigue and he even played a second game at a very good individual level. Always attentive to opposing attacks even when outnumbered, quick to come out of his defense to cut off counterattacks at the source, he also knew how to stand out through his ability to set the pace from the back on the restart. Another very good match from him.
Skriniar: Back in the starting lineup, the Slovakian was entrusted with the left axis and he did very well even if he did not take many risks to restart. Defensively, he played another solid game, making Niane completely harmless. Always well placed and quick to recover the ball at the slightest technical inaccuracy of the opponent when approaching the goal, he delivered a real game as a solid and effective defender, as often when he plays this season.
Beraldo: Positioned as a left back, the Brazilian has again signed an alternative part but frankly not uninteresting. There is obviously this duel lost against the winger where he stupidly throws himself and receives a well-deserved yellow card but his overall defensive performance is not limited to this bad intervention and he managed quite a few good too. A bad reading on his part, however, allows Niane to challenge Donnarumma. With the ball, Beraldo was, however, very interesting and his forward passes in the first half resulted in some great situations: it was in particular him who launched Asensio for the first goal.
Fabian Ruiz : Positioned a notch lower than usual as a sentinel, the Spanish left-hander regulated the Parisian game in a very good way this Saturday evening, with a large volume of play. His directions of play were excellent, whether towards the left or the right, and his ability to move the ball wide with good speed caused many problems in Angers who let him play too much. On the other hand, he committed some very avoidable ball losses which offered counterattacks but he also scored a big return in the area on Abdelli who was going to hit from close range.
Zaire-Emery: Positioned as a right relay player as always, the young Parisian quickly understood the turn of the match that was going to take shape and he was very present and intense in the counter-pressing, recovering very interesting balls for his partners who could then attack against a team of Angers suddenly less locked. In the offensive part, he sometimes lacked a little technical accuracy.
Dembele's replaced him for the last half hour, he took a little time to get into the match then started to make real differences, whether through dribbling or passing. He almost scored and scored, before greatly helping Angers to reduce the score with a stupid and absolutely uncompensated loss of the ball at 4-1.
Mayulu : Aligned in the left midfielder, the young Parisian confirms that he is frankly gaining depth in this position, to the point that it was sometimes hard to know if it was him or Zaire- Emery on some sharp pressings. But more than his partner, Mayulu was able to show his technical touch and insert himself perfectly into the game. He was not decisive with the pass but almost scored with a nice left shot and signed a new performance promising.
First Class replaced him and he signed an entry in line with that against Atlético, therefore voluntary and positive. The striker made several good runs which made the defense suffer and he managed some technical moves which we thought he was incapable of given his current confidence. He was notably the author of an individual action of great beauty after starting with his back to goal while his little adjustment step before hitting deserved better than the post which followed. Finally something positive about him, even if his poor defense at the near post on the 2-4 goal probably did not escape the staff.
Lee : Positioned on the right side, the South Korean removed a huge thorn from his team's side with this quick and precise double at the start of the match. Lee has an eye for goal, and he showed it extremely well when he was already the author, and with the right, of the first strike of the match. Even if everything was not always smooth with Hakimi on the right side, his left paw was silky and with it he gave a perfect assist to Barcola with a curled cross. Note that he finished the meeting as a relay player, combining well with Dembélé.
Neves replaced him in stoppage time and he almost scored despite only playing a few minutes.
Asensio : Once again positioned in false axial point, the Spaniard this time succeeded in everything he had failed a few days earlier. Hard to frame for the defense, he was able to insert himself into the heart of the game with real joy since he signed a whopping three assists. Two came from diving runs on the left side which well represent his great availability of the day. On the other hand, and once again, he was very clumsy in front of goal since he made the goalkeeper shine on several occasions. He also finished a notch lower.
Barcola: Unexpected starter, the Parisian left winger nevertheless delivered a hell of a half before leaving. After a few minutes to enter the game, he was frankly unstoppable for Angers with his runs, his movements and his paws. For example, it is he who launches Asensio on the second goal before widening the gap with a beautiful double scorer: a close recovery which leaves no chance for the goalkeeper then an uncrossed header which is however not his specialty . An efficient and enjoyable Saturday evening before returning to the Blues.
Gifted replaced him post for post on the left flank and it took him a long time to get into the game. If he got into the tone defensively with good defensive activity, he needed more time to make an impact offensively and only managed to do so in the last quarter of the match. He then alternated brilliant individual actions and poorly chosen strikes on goal, his guilty pleasure since his arrival. The fact that the Parisian game takes place mainly on the right has not done him any favors either.
