In its financial statements for the 2023 fiscal year, the municipality of Saint-Victor confirms a surplus of $470,967. To this sum must be added an amount of $214,226 for the waterworks, sewer and sanitation infrastructure reserve.

“The current economic period requires us to be cautious. […] Equipment maintenance costs are falling, following the replacement of two trucks whose repairs were becoming expensive. The new trucks that replaced them were paid for in cash, an investment of nearly $800,000 for which we will not be charged any interest charges,” specifies the mayor, Jonathan Bolduc, in a press release.

As of December 31, 2023, the total reserves amounted to $1,637,582, including $1,023,388 for aqueduct and sewer, as well as $614,194 in free surplus. “These sums will mainly be devoted to continuing to upgrade road infrastructure and the public water network over the coming years, thus reducing possible recourse to debt,” says Mr. Bolduc.

In 2024, the Municipality will carry out the repair of roads in the heart of the village, namely rue des Écoliers, rue Fecteau and part of rue Veilleux. The modernization work, which will take place over 15 weeks, will consist of replacing pipes and reconfiguring these streets.

The contract was awarded to Giroux & Lessard for $4.6 million, with the provincial government paying $3.7 million. “The portion of rue Veilleux to be reconstructed will include extra width with lines and bollards. As for rue des Écoliers, it will be a signature project, with an active path separated from the roadway by an island of greenery. Young people going to school, like the many pedestrians crossing these areas, will be better protected, and this will substantially improve the general appearance,” concludes the mayor.
