The Roederer Foundation unveils the Thinking Sustainability Prize

It was in the intimate courtyard of the Institute for Ideas and Imagination in that the Louis Roederer Foundation presented the Thinking Sustainability Prize on Thursday evening to Ana Elisa Sotelo for her series Portraits of the Multiverse. This new Prize designed by Audrey Bazin, artistic director of the Champagne house, rewards a photographer working on subjects that revolve around sustainable development.

Two years of work. A unique reflection on the environment. And a desire to promote artistic creation. This is what motivated the Louis Roederer Foundation to launch its new Thinking Sustainability Photographic Prize. “ We wanted to offer a thoughtful program in two partsdetails Audrey Bazin. A first chapter focuses on scientific research. It is composed of texts written by emerging or established academic figures to better understand the issues of sustainable development. » The various essays cover a wide range of themes linked to ecology, from Japan to Senegal, via Alaska – deep sea pollution, sustainable architecture, climate law, consumption, etc. “ Then a second chapter “Prix Photo” was designed in a unique way », adds the artistic director. With a view to revealing the environmental specificities specific to each territory, the Foundation decided to rely on 18 international rapporteurs to propose a selection of photographers anchored in the same continent as them. From 54 applications, the jury members chose six finalists – Irene Barlian for Asia, Adam Ferguson for Oceania, Maya Goded for North America, Pierrot Men for Africa, Mónica de Miranda for Europe and Ana Elisa Sotelo for South America. Their photographic views invite curiosity, participate in an in-depth analysis of the ecological issues that mark our Earth and offer keys to understanding specific to each scale and open the doors to change on a global level.
