It is with great emotion that those involved in Nigerien football learned of the disappearance of the Nigerien international, goalkeeper Losseini Doumbia Issa on the afternoon of Tuesday June 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast at the age aged 32, following a short illness. Born on April 5, 1992 in Niamey, Losseini played within the AS FAN of Niamey and the National Team, Mena where he proved himself. The world of sport remembers him as a distinguished athlete, hardworking, courteous and disciplined. He was a reassuring goalkeeper who caught balls without problem. When he is between the two goal posts, everyone is confident.

During his career, Losseini Doumbia Issa was always up to the missions entrusted to him, in particular to prevent the ball from reaching the net. He was truly discovered by the public in 2007, the year he came from Ivory Coast. In such a short time, he has established himself in his field. According to those close to him, he respects everyone, especially his colleagues and management. This is why the announcement of his death extremely saddened the world of football.

In a press release that it made public, the Niger Football Federation paid tribute to the memory of the illustrious deceased. “It is with great emotion and sadness that we have just learned of the disappearance, this Tuesday June 11, 2024, of former Niger international Lousseini Doumbia Issa, born April 5, 1992 in Niamey. We will remember Mr. Lousseini Doumbia Issa, a distinguished goalkeeper who played within the AS FAN of Niamey and the National Team, the MENA with whom, he was undoubtedly the main architect of Niger’s first qualification at the final phase of CHAN-Sudan 2011. Indeed, during the “Return” qualifying match against Nigeria, he had, through his dexterity, held in check the entire offensive armada of this great African but, above all, he will have stopped a penalty thus allowing Niger to qualify for this great mass of African football. In these painful moments, we would like to send on our own behalf, that of the members of the Executive Committee of FENIFOOT and all of Nigerien football, our most emotional condolences to the biological family of the deceased, to his friends, to the Office Executive of AS FAN of Niamey and to all its members,” notes the FENIFOOT press release.

In his international career, Losseini Doumbia Issa also marked his time between 2010 and 2016 in the mythical and legendary club DARING CLUB MOTEMA PEMBE, an omnisport club based in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The disappearance of Losseini did not leave those responsible for this club indifferent. “The DARING CLUB MOTEMA PEMBE woke up sad upon hearing the news of the death of its former goalkeeper, our beloved Losseini. The Management Committee, as well as the entire DC MOTEMA PEMBE team, present its condolences to the biological family, the Nigerien Football Federation, the Imanians, as well as all the fans of the illustrious deceased,” writes the DC MOTEMA PEMBE on its official page.

For Coach Omar Diabaté, coach of AS Garde Nationale, Lousseini has done a lot for football. Coach Omar encountered this young talent at AS FAN as a starter in 2010 in the first team. “He is a very respectful and jovial young person. With AS FAN we have had an exceptional journey both in Niger and abroad. We won the Niger Super Cup. During games, he is always calm, attentive, focused, etc. Technically he was above many goalkeepers of the time. This is what made him one of the starters at the national team level. Internationally we had an honorable run with Lousseini because we reached the quarter-finals where we eliminated teams Étoiles du Sahel, Elmerek, etc. Lousseini was the centerpiece of our team. Hats off to him! That his soul rests in peace ! », Testifies Sheikh Omar Diabaté.

Issaka is one of the players who played with Losseini the international. He still remembers the strong moment spent together on grounds where Losseini always saved honor. “He has an incredible reading of the game. His strong point is his participation in the game. Often we asked ourselves the question of whether he is a goalkeeper or is he a second liberal who is next to the central defender. And he plays football very well,” he admits before paying tribute to the memory of his former teammate.
