On instructions from the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, is going to Sochi in Russia, at the head of the Tunisian delegation to participate in the work of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, scheduled for November 9 and 10, 2024.
This Conference aims to further strengthen the cooperation programs of the Russian Federation with African countries in the various political, security, economic, scientific, technological, cultural and human fields.
As part of this Partnership Forum, two Summits of Heads of State and Government took place, allowing the definition of priorities for economic cooperation and partnership between the two Parties: the first of its kind in contemporary Russia in October 2019 in Sochi, Russia, and the last in Saint Petersburg, in July 2024.
On the sidelines of the work of the Conference, the Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart to examine the main means of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in preparation for the next events. He will also have bilateral meetings with a number of his African counterparts to examine the state of bilateral relations and discuss ways to strengthen them and exchange points of view on the various current regional and international issues.
It should be noted that the Minister previously met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Tunisia, who expressed his appreciation for Tunisia’s participation in the Russo-African Partnership Forum. The meeting also made it possible to review aspects of bilateral cooperation and the means to develop them, particularly in the scientific, medical and pharmaceutical fields, as well as issues related to academic, cultural cooperation and commercial exchanges.
