During the 5th session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Commercial, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the Zimbabwe and the Russia strengthened their cooperation for bilateral projects in various sectors. During the ministerial session which concluded on Thursday, November 7, 2024, the two countries signed the official minutes which consolidate the joint decisions.
The validated minutes serve as a guide for effective implementation of shared objectives. These minutes also ensure transparency and, therefore, minimize the risk of misunderstandings. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, Dr. Amon Murwirawelcomed this reciprocal commitment in strengthening the cooperation of the two countries, while recalling the initial agreements of January 2019 made during the visit in Russia of the Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
During his visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe also met with the group’s managers KamazRussia’s leading truck manufacturer and a major player in the production of heavy vehicles globally. The group Kamazwhich manufactures various types of vehicles (trucks, trailers, buses), motors and other equipment with more than 60 basic models, discussed with Dr. Amon the Warrior expansion opportunities in Africa via the Zimbabwean market. Discussions also revolved around the creation of local jobs in Zimbabwe thanks to industrial partnerships with the group Kamaz with the aim of promoting economic development and benefits for local communities.
