– The price of mutual insurance should jump again!

Collective or compulsory contracts… mutual insurance prices had jumped from 7.3% to 9.9% this year. A record increase of 8.1% on average which worried the government regarding the purchasing power of the French. But the year 2025 should not be synonymous with savings either, according to TF1. According to the Mutuelle santé 2025 barometer from the broker Réassurement-moi cited by our colleagues, the increase is expected to continue. And not the least! Contributions should jump “10.35% on average”.

If these figures are confirmed, it would therefore be an even greater surge in prices than this year and, above all, well above inflation established by INSEE at 1.2% over the last twelve months. A new thorn in the side of the French since the annual increase will be greater than 100 euros for households, on average at 1,508 euros according to the same barometer. Retirees will be even worse off since the increase is expected exceed 200 eurosi.e. an average natural contribution of 3,393 euros.

Up to 20% increase

“On average, the French will therefore spend 2,177 euros”says the broker Reassure me. Why such an increase? The broker mentions an aging of the population and therefore “an increase in medical care, hospitalizations or costly treatments”. Reassure Me also talks about the increase in the number of chronic diseases. It is also necessary to take into account the increase in medical prices or the possible reimbursement in the long term of certain treatments.

For example, on November 6, the High Authority for Health (HAS) ruled in favor of reimbursement for dental implants. The broker notes that French people who will experience a 10% increase in their prices will ultimately be well off, to the extent that certain mutual insurance companies plan to review their scale by 20%!

A senatorial report was published on September 24: the senators note that the increases practiced in 2024 are “incommensurable” with real needs. But some French people will have little choice. As a reminder, mutual insurance is obligatory for all permanent employees.
