“If the supporters push us, it will give us a mental boost”

“Our club is sinking”: a Storm Ultras survey puts even more pressure on Mehdi Bayat and the management of Sporting de Charleroi

Tensions between supporters and leaders of the Zebras continue to rise. In around twenty hours, 1,800 people spoke. And 93% of them call for the resignation of the current leadership.

The call for calm launched on Tuesday by the management of Sporting de Charleroi was not really heard by the club’s supporters. The four consecutive defeats in the league as well as the elimination in the Cup (4-1 at Patro Eisden) have further increased the pressure.

The press conference on Monday October 28 to present “Cap 2027” and the new role of Mehdi Bayat, present alongside David Helmer, was not convincing either. The managing director remains the preferred target of fans.

After calling for action this Saturday before the match against Westerlo – “in calm, without violence or degradation” – the Storm Ultras 2001 launched a poll on their Facebook page this Wednesday late afternoon.

93% of voters say they no longer have confidence in club leaders

The (double) question is simple: confidence in this direction? Stop or still?

With two possible answers:

>The sports management must resign or be fired, it is no longer credible to achieve the objectives of excellence. I no longer trust

>Sports management must remain and be maintained, it is credible to achieve the objectives of excellence. I trust

By noon this Thursday, nearly 1,800 people had voted. 93% (1,664 votes against 111) call for the departure of the current leadership.

Some took the time to support their opinion.

For some, it is a general malaise.

Michael : “Subscriber for 32 years. We arrive at a situation which becomes harmful for the identity of the club. Yes, the management saved Sporting from bankruptcy but now it has served its time and must resign if it wants the good of the club.

Nathalie : “Fan since 1985. So disgusted that I didn’t renew my subscription this season and I don’t regret it. The disastrous situation of recent years has hurt me a lot. A change for the better is more than urgent. »

Jean-Luc : “I was a subscriber in T4 and am now in T1 but for the last time. I’m really fed up, I no longer enjoy coming to the stadium because I’m getting more and more bored. Our club is sinking sportingly because of poor sports management. »

Others directly target Mehdi Bayat.

Rudy : “I have been a supporter for 32 years. Saying that Mehdi has to leave is all well and good, but the financial management is still good. It’s the athlete who screws up. To say that Mehdi must stay, ok but we remain in this system in place. (…)And what do we do with these pseudo stars who (…) spit on the coat of arms (and I am clearly targeting Zorgue and Mbenza)?

Claude : “Bayat must keep financial management but must leave sports management to the real football connoisseurs. The example of recruiting Kyei when Leko didn’t want him is quite significant. »

Patrick : “When you fire someone, you have to replace them. So, who instead of Bayat? »

” Yes ” : “We should add the choice: change sporting direction and leave the economic aspect to Bayat. Let’s give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, on that front, it’s an excellent job.”
