Good P+/O– cows are traded on the markets between €4.10 and €4.15, prices for P=3 over 320 kg are between €3.95 and €4.05. Normandy and Montbéliarde O+ are valued at between €4.30 and €4.50. Ordinary ones are sold between €4.00 and €4.20, or even less for skinny ones depending on weight.
For meat breeds, this time of year is not very favorable for trade. The numerous promotional campaigns on noble pieces are there to boost the consumption of pieces to grill. However, trade is protected by the low supply of good quality females, with prices remaining stable. The market is in balance on R conformation animals with R Charolais sold between €5.25 and €5.45.
For young cattle, a clear deficit of merchandise is felt, due to poor implementation a year ago. This lack of merchandise is reinforced by a tendency of breeders to keep animals on farms to take advantage of rising prices. Prices have increased by €0.20 in one month, and continue to increase.
