La Box de RED by SFR
Here is our first fixed price Box: that of RED by SFR. Not only does it cost less than 25€/month, more 2 months of subscription are offered Right now. And as it is a non-binding offer, it can be tested without risk. However, we bet that it will be popular for a long time, given its excellent basic formula, and its modularity very practical for personalizing it according to your needs.
It all starts with a “dual-play” formula : we therefore get a modem, the SFR Box 7, which allows you to have a landline and an efficient high-speed Internet connection. Thanks to optical fiber, which allows you to forget about slowdowns and bugs, and will be able to reach up to 500 Mb/s symmetrical throughput (i.e. both downloading and sending). We are and Wi-Fi 5 (ac) for wireless distribution, intelligent and stable Wi-Fi with 2 frequency bands.
The telephony offered includes calls at will in France, to landlines as well as mobiles, and those to landlines in around a hundred international destinations. But the icing on the cake concerns television: if the decoder is not provided in the basic package, we can still download the RED TV app and access the 35 TNT channels.
Nevertheless, RED by SFR had the good idea to offer a 4K HDR decoder for optional rental for only €3, and to let you choose whether or not you want 100 more channels (for 2€). Incredible: even with these two options, we remain just under 30€ monthly !
“The Box” by Sosh
It looks like the previous offer, but on the network of the parent company Orange: it is “The Box” by Sosh. But unless no other network is available at your address, it is difficult for it to go the distance: it costs 1€ more and does not benefit from any free month, its debit is 20% slower (400 Mb/s symmetrical), and calls to mobiles in France are a €5 option.
Same price to recover access to television via a decoder, and thewe then exceed our 30€ maximum budget:
SFR Starter Box
This is the big surprise of this comparison: it was ultimately on the side of the historic Internet access providers that we discovered the most competitive and efficient subscription at the same time. Direction SFR so, for what is a priori the best idea of the moment: in the Starter Box.
This time, everything is there automatically, plus the performance:
- the same SFR Box 7 is unrestricted and is capable of providing up to 1 Gb/s symmetrical throughput, which is very appreciable if there are several of you sharing the connection simultaneously;
- while waiting for the connection (free) and receipt of the equipment, SFR offers 200 GB more data in the envelope mobile subscribers of its brand or RED, and/or 1 month free for a pocket 4G Box: guaranteed connection!
- the decoder provides access to a bouquet of 160 channels and services.
It’s worth it commit for a minimum of one year!
