Jenisen Ramen, an engineer, was sentenced to 26 years of penal servitude for the murder of his partner, Jenny Tossé, aged 27, and 12 years for burning down their house. The sentences, pronounced this Thursday, November 7 by Judge Luchmyparsad Aujayeb at the Assises, will be served simultaneously.
After his arrest, the accused made a confession. In his statements, he explained that an argument had broken out between them the previous night after the victim decided to leave him. She ignored him. Due to their strained relationship, the accused had also considered committing suicide.
He told police that the victim had severely bitten his finger while he tried to calm her down. Without delay, he strangled her with both hands. The victim was screaming, and after a while, she stopped breathing and was no longer moving.
During the attack, the victim’s head hit the table, and she began to bleed. The accused expressed his grief over these events. He then set the house on fire. The autopsy attributed the young woman’s death to neck compression. He apologized to the family of the deceased and to the court.
