Two French gendarmes were arrested by Israeli police inside a site managed by in Jerusalem, on the sidelines of a visit by Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

Strong Franco-Israeli tensions in Jerusalem. Two French gendarmes were arrested by the Israeli police before being released a few minutes later, this Thursday, November 7, BFMTV learned from a source close to the matter.

The events occurred on the Mount of Olives in a site managed by France. Two Israeli police officers presented themselves armed at the foot of this French hold, in violation of diplomatic rules.

Two French diplomatic security guards (GSD), a position occupied by police officers and gendarmes, were briefly taken to an Israeli police station then released after a few minutes after checking the images and videos in their possession.

A video shot on site by an RFI journalist shows a man being put into an Israeli police car.

This incident occurred on the sidelines of the visit to Jerusalem by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot
