It is at the end of the Athélia industrial zone, which continues to develop and grow, that the City finally chose to establish its new central kitchen. We discovered it during the traditional laying of the first stone yesterday. There, above a bend in zone V, at the bottom of the Roumagoua route, the backhoe loaders and reinforcements on this currently empty 6,180 m² plot announce a vast construction site. 3,200 m² will be dedicated to this project.

This eco-responsible building, which will cost 3.8 million euros excluding taxes, should be delivered in July or August next year. “So that at the start of the 2025 school year we can have good meals for the children“, announces Yann Taranto municipal councilor responsible for secondary education, and leader of this project. “Which is not from yesterday“, notes Mayor Alexandre Doriol. “I think that today we are doing a good deed and I thank Alexandre Doriol for having maintained this priority for children despite all the difficulties that the State imposes on us.“, adds Jean-Louis Tixier, his deputy responsible for education, referring to the budget cuts announced at the beginning of October.

“Flagship of Provençal collective catering”

The central kitchen provides 2,400 meals per day, distributed across eleven school canteens in the town. “There is a real desire to put our central kitchen at the center of a system that places you, the children, at the heart of all our concerns“, indicates Alexandre Doriol, addressing a group of little wolves, invited for the occasion. They were given shrubs, lemon tree, olive tree… which they will have to take care of before planting them on site on the day of the inauguration.
