In May, July or September 2024. On several occasions in recent months and weeks, Normandy has had to suffer flooding phenomena, sometimes causing significant damage.
The Official Journal published, on November 1, 2024, a decree stipulating that the inhabitants of several impacted municipalities in the region benefited from the recognition of the state of natural disaster.
A particularly important decree since it allows, as stipulated in article 2 “to entitle policyholders to coverage against the effects of natural disasters on property covered by the insurance contracts referred to in the Insurance Code, when the direct material damage resulting therefrom had as its determining cause the effect of this natural agent and that the usual measures to be taken to prevent this damage could not prevent their occurrence or could not be taken. »
The victims have a period of thirty days from the date of publication of the decree to file a claim declaration as well as an estimate of their losses with their insurer.
The municipalities:
- Seine-Maritime : Martainville-Épreville and Sotteville-sur-Mer
- Some : Bridges
- Orne : Courtomer, La Ferrière-aux-Etangs, la Fresnaie-Fayel, Gouffern-en-Auge, Val-au-Perche
For the record, in Seine-Maritime, the two municipalities of Martainville-Épreville and Sotteville-sur-Mer had, respectively, on July 30 and September 5, 2024, suffered “cumulative precipitation with a return period greater than 10 years. »
