Christoph Frei, aged 64, has taught the history of ideas and international relations at the University of St. Gallen since 2006. He carried out long research stays in and the United States and wrote his doctoral thesis on the political scientist Hans Morgenthau. At the time, even Henry Kissinger read his book and praised it, something the professor is still proud of today. “Few scientists can say the same in Switzerland,” he confides with a laugh. He came into contact with the legendary American Secretary of State when he worked, as a younger man, for the former St. Gallen Federal Councilor Kurt Furgler. Today, his courses are among the most popular at the University of St. Gallen.
