The difference between how Kamala Harris and Donald Trump ended their respective campaigns on Monday was as big as between day and night. Harris held rallies in front of large, galvanized crowds who chanted “We will not go back” as he heard his hopeful, optimistic promise of a more united country. Trump tiredly repeated his message about a country in ruins in lecture halls with several rows of empty seats, as seen in the photo below from North Carolina.
Harris stopped in three cities in Pennsylvania, whose 19 voters could make the difference on this election day, while Trump visited three states, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Courting Latino voters, the vice president was notably accompanied to Allentown by rapper Fat Joe, who asked his fellow Puerto Ricans in that city, alluding to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s racist joke about Puerto Rico: “Where is your pride? »
In Philadelphia (photo which tops this post), the last stop of her campaign, Harris was surrounded by Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, among others. Some Democrats remembered Hillary Clinton’s final presidential campaign rally, held at the same venue with other big names, including Barack Obama and her husband Bill. They hope not to relive the nightmare the next day.
Looking exhausted, Trump was still able to rejoice in the evening at the support of Joe Rogan, host of one of the most popular podcasts in the United States, and the presence at his side of the former Fox host News Megyn Kelly, who forgave him for his misogynistic comments against her during his first presidential campaign.
But Kelly’s presence did not produce the enthusiasm generated by Harris’ entourage. It remains to be seen how all this will translate into the results of this election, the importance of which there is no need to repeat.
