The events took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, around 4:30 p.m. A young 19-year-old man was stabbed while he was on the footbridge overlooking the railway near Pontchaillou hospital.

Two attackers and witnesses
THE attackers were two in number. “One of them brought him several stab wounds, the second then made him fall to the ground by giving him a kick at the level of the legs, then wore punches on the face,” explains Frédéric Teillet.
Two witnesses witnessed the scene and “immediately intervened to assist the victim and take him to the emergency room where he died shortly afterwards.”

On Saturday evening, a man presented himself at the Rennes police station “by admitting to being the author of the stabbings”, continues the prosecutor. Aged 18, he was taken into police custody.
He admitted to having wanted to settle “a dispute” with the victim, without specifying what nature, and that to do this, he had bought a knife shortly before the events.
The accused confirmed having carried out the stabbings. He then used his right of silence during the remainder of custody.
“The autopsy performed today confirmed the presence of three stab wounds, to the arm, heart and liver, the last two being fatal. »
The second attacker is still on the run.
Already sentenced by the juvenile court
On the instructions of the Rennes public prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation into the murder charge, the man placed in police custody was referred to court on Monday, November 4.
Indicted, he was then placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention in accordance with the request of the prosecution.
The accused is known to the courts for having been convicted three times by the Rennes children's court for aggravated theft and for offenses linked to drug trafficking.
Frédéric Teillet specifies that “the victim was also known to the courts for offenses also linked to drug trafficking.”
On the other hand, he adds, “if these elements are likely to make one think that the facts are linked to such trafficking, this is not not established in procedure and the instruction will aim to clarify this, as well as to identify and'call out the second individual having hit the victim.
