China wants to send men to the Moon before NASA

The CMSA, part of the Chinese space agency in charge of astronaut flights and future missions to the moon has just announced that it has selected two finalists as part of a call for tenders aimed at creating a rover intended for the next lunar missions.

These are the Cast and the Sattwo Chinese companies which were thus selected to develop the rover in question.

The device should weigh around 200 kg and have autonomy of 10 km. China is thus anticipating the necessary travel on site when the country has a lunar base.

The Chinese lunar missions are greatly inspired by the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 missions: three astronauts will take off aboard the Mengzhou spacecraft to reach the lunar orbit. The lander called Lanyue will then be responsible for bringing them down to the Moon, then bringing them back to the transport module which will remain in orbit.

During the first missions, expeditions to the Moon should only last 6 hours, the astronauts will then be equipped with spacesuits, they will perform a rover tour before returning to the return module.

China hopes to send its astronauts to the Moon before the end of the decade, before NASA is able to do so following the delay ofArtemis III.
