This Wednesday, June 5, 2024, a 17-year-old young person set fire to his bed at the La Tour accommodation center for unaccompanied minors before stabbing one of his educators. The police had to open fire to control him.
The tragedy took place in an accommodation center for unaccompanied minors in La Tour (Haute-Savoie). A 17-year-old young person, already known to the justice system and who had joined this children’s home only a few weeks ago, suddenly appeared very threatening on the morning of Wednesday June 5, 2024.
Fire and stabbing
Locking himself in his room and armed with a knife, he allegedly took two educators hostage. He then allegedly set his bed on fire before stabbing one of the supervisors several times, report our colleagues at France blue.
The police quickly went to the scene and were able to observe the very aggressive behavior of the young man. According to our colleagues, the gendarmes of the Bonneville company had to use their weapons to control him. The precise circumstances of the shootings must be established.
Open investigation
The stabbed educator, aged around forty, and the minor were transported to Geneva hospital.
An investigation was opened for attempted murder of people entrusted with a public service mission, kidnapping, threats with a weapon and act of destruction by dangerous means.
