It's another shooting that ends tragically. A young man seriously injured by bullets in front of a nightclub near Valence during the night from Thursday to Friday died “early afternoon” on Saturday, said the Privas public prosecutor's office in Ardèche.
Aged 22, the young man from Romans-sur-Isère was shot in the head and transported in absolute emergency to the Valence hospital center with a life-threatening prognosis. Two other people, more lightly injured, remain hospitalized, said deputy prosecutor Charlotte Cerna, adding that the investigation “continues” and has not given rise to any arrests at this stage.
The main suspect on the run
The shooting, which is believed to be linked to drug trafficking, broke out around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of a nightclub in Saint-Péray in Ardèche, west of Valence, according to a police source. According to the first elements of the investigation, the perpetrator was dressed in black and had his face hidden under a hood. He fired a handgun before fleeing.
The Rugby Club Romans-Péage (RCRP), of which the deceased young man was a member, paid tribute to him on its Facebook page, saying it was “devastated again” by this death “in atrocious circumstances”. It was also within the RCRP that the young Thomas, killed during a ball in Crépol, in Drôme, played in November 2023.
