Expatriated in the south of France since a young age, Alan Brazo has never lived (or almost) in Ploërmel (Morbihan). However, it is the ducal city which is indicated as being his birthplace on his Wikipedia entry as well as among several of our colleagues like the Free Midday or Dauphiné Libéré.
A life more than 900 km from Ploërmel
Although he now lives far from Morbihan, the rugby player, who plays third row, was born in Ploërmel on May 21, 1992. And, this birth in Ploërmel is not completely the result of chance. “My father was a soldier at the Coëtquidan camp,” explains Alan Brazo.
Although he was indeed born in the ducal city, the young man grew up in the south of France. “My father was transferred there shortly after my birth,” he explains.
“I have family in Lorient”
Although he does not hide his pride in being born in Brittany, it is in the south of France that Alan Brazo flourishes on a daily basis.
After growing up in Castres and discovering rugby by going to the stadium, the most Breton of southerners now lives on the border with Spain, more than 900 km from Ploërmel, his hometown. “For twelve years, I have lived in Perpignan,” he explains.
Native of Ploërmel, he faces Vannes in Top 14
Arriving in Perpignan at the age of 18 to continue his studies, the native Ploërmelais never left. Although he was not at all predestined to have a career in rugby, Alan Brazo took advantage of his arrival in Perpignan to take his first license at Usap, the local rugby club.
And, after having climbed the ranks and definitively abandoned football and his goalkeeper gloves, it is now in the Top 14 that he is playing. The one who played his 150e match under the colors of Usap in October 2022 faces the RC Vannes ce Saturday November 2, 2024.
