VIDEO. Léon Marchand at the Swimming World Cup: new golden crown for the Toulouse native, close to his record in the 400m medley

New demonstration for King Léon! The day after his incredible race where he beat the world record for the 200m medley by almost a second, the Toulouse native left no crumbs for his competitors this Saturday afternoon in the 400m medley on the occasion of the third and final stage of the Short Course Swimming World Cup.

By winning with a time of 3'58″45, the 22-year-old swimmer did no better than last week, when he beat his own French record by 2 seconds with a time of 3'58″30 . Léon Marchand finished more than two seconds ahead of Alberto Razzetti, his main opponent this Saturday (4'00″59), while Trenton Julian took third place in 4'04'46.

“A third crown? It's very cool, I love it (laughter). I'm a little tired, but I'm happy with my time and I still have the 200m freestyle to do later. It’s really nice to travel, meet new people and swim in front of a great crowd,” he commented after his race.

Thanks to this new success, the four-time Olympic champion was however awarded a new golden crown after winning for the third time in a row over the distance during these stages of the World Cup. Thanks to this ninth victory, he also won a third hat-trick, having reigned supreme in the medley disciplines. He is expected in an hour in the final of the 200m freestyle, his final race in this last stage of Singapore.
