With Les Orages, Gabrielle Paoli and Laure Konczaty are working ardently on their project with the ambition of opening this place dedicated to culture and performing arts in a year.
“The work will begin in January and should last a short year,” explains Gabrielle Paoli, “but we decided to bring the place to life, create events, test formats.” A concert evening will take place on Friday November 8, with a Toulouse group, Turbo Niglo, as the opening act.
“It’s Electro Gypsy. They are dynamic, a little crazy, with a very strong, luminous identity. We will continue with a local DJ, Jim Floyd, who will make us dance until 2:00 in the morning. ” The bar and buffet, platters, sandwiches, homemade cakes, will open at 7 p.m. “All this,” continues Gabrielle, “with the help of our wonderful team of volunteers!”
“The reactor core”
Laure Konczaty talks about the future. “When the place is open, the heart of the reactor will be the 80-seat performance hall. All the performing arts will be represented, theater, dance, circus, storytelling, magic, puppets. A second space, the concert café, will host live music once a week with groups from Toulouse, Bordeaux and the surrounding area. The snacks offered will be based on local products.
Les Orages is also intended to become an artists' residence. In September, Gabrielle and Laure already welcomed two actors from the young theater company Bleu chardon which created a show about walking and the Haut en Couleurs company with an exit show around Alzheimer's disease, La Malle . “We were very proud to be able to offer a venue to these two groups that we really appreciate,” they said.
The restoration of the old tannery will begin in January 2025, for a probable duration of one year. We will look forward to the inauguration of Les Orages at the end of 2025 or early 2026!
For the evening of Friday, November 8, the bar and buffet will open at 7 p.m., concert at 8:30 p.m., DJ set at 10 p.m. Admission, €7.
