Halloween night was short for law enforcement. In the police sector, officers made 16 arrests, notably for carrying a weapon. Several fires were also reported during the night of Thursday October 31 to November 1, 2024, as well as armed gatherings. At the Port, six people were arrested for urban violence. In Saint-Pierre, a vehicle fire and projectile throwing in the direction of the municipal police and police officers from the anti-crime brigade were reported. One person was arrested for carrying a weapon. “He was carrying a large chisel, a hood and window-breaking hammers,” explains Stéphane Patché, Alliance departmental delegate. “We also noted a fire on Banks Boulevard, the origin of which is unknown.”

In Saint-André, several people wearing hoods and carrying iron bars were reported. The police made two arrests. Another person carrying a knife was arrested for carrying a weapon. Finally, a person was taken into custody after projectiles were thrown at the BAC.

In Saint-Denis, a bus was stoned at the Verger Camélia stop around 5:30 p.m. The window was broken, but no injuries were reported.

A barrage of burning pallets was erected overnight on rue Pasteur. The police arrested six people who were preparing molotov cocktails.

Rue Maréchal Leclerc, a person was arrested for an armed gathering, the latter carrying an airsoft gun. At the Montgaillard church, while five people were participating in an armed gathering, they set fire to barriers. The police made two arrests.

Finally, one person was arrested for carrying an explosive, and another for possession of a narcotic product and carrying a weapon. “The individual was carrying a sword, a baton and a gas canister” specifies Stéphane Patché, who “welcomes the professionalism and commitment of the police officers and worked all night”.

In total, 300 police officers were deployed to the department.
