The accident has happened around 9 a.m. this Monday, June 3 in the Pontchâteau station area in Loire-Atlantique. A 59-year-old woman found herself on track 2 and was hit by a TER in traffic. The victim was trapped under the train engine. She was able to be extracted by emergency services after lifting the device.

The victim was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to Nantes University Hospital. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy. The train driver is shocked and taken care of by his family. An SNCF agent also found himself in a state of shock. A total of 26 firefighters were mobilized for the intervention. Several elected officials were present, including the president of the community of communes of the Pays de Pontchâteau-Saint-Gildas-des-Bois.

We do not know the precise circumstances of the accident. Due to the intervention of the firefighters, the trains scheduled between Savenay in Loire-Atlantique and Redon in Ille-et-Vilaine therefore remained suspended for a good part of the day. Traffic was finally able to resume around 1 p.m. this Monday.

As for people stuck in trains that were already in circulation, the SNCF has not provided emergency solutions. All passengers were evacuated and taken to their destination by buses.
