Since the start of the year, the Peugeot 3008 has been one of the most widely sold models in . The third generation of the Sochaux SUV did not wait to find a place on the market, despite fierce competition and prices higher than some of its rivals.

If the ranking of new car sales in France is dominated by city cars, SUVs, on the other hand, take the lion’s share, being the most represented. And at the heart of this armada of high vehicles on wheels, the Peugeot 3008 is one of those that sells the most, behind its rival Renault Austral. However, let’s not forget that this third generation only arrived in dealerships earlier in the year. So it took her a few weeks to find her cruising speed.
And precisely, this third iteration of the 3008 has a lot to do, since the previous version had broken sales records. It takes on its strengths, with a sharp design that is frankly pleasing to the eye, a resolutely modern interior and a diverse range of engines. However, inflation requires the bill has gone up a notch and now starts at 38,490 euros. Which places the 3008 above the Austral, and one notch below the Volkswagen Tiguan. So, what should we expect from the Allure finish, which serves as entry-level?

A 136 horsepower mild-hybrid engine

For this price, do not expect to be entitled to the 195 horsepower plug-in hybrid version, even less to the 100% electric versions. The 3008 “first prize” must be satisfied with one 3-cylinder 1.2 PureTech micro-hybrid with 136 horsepower. Fortunately, there is nothing insignificant about this engine and it only has entry-level status. In fact, it offers quite decent driving pleasure, and also displays moderate consumption. Peugeot announces 5.4 l/100 km in the WLTP combined cycle. Cherry on the cake, it is possible to drive without burning a drop of fuel at low speed, especially in town.
However, despite the efficiency of the mild hybridization system, the Peugeot 3008 cannot completely escape the ecological penalty. He thus receives a tax ranging from 170 to 240 euros, depending on the options checked when ordering. A rather digestible surplus, compared to other SUVs more heavily impacted by French taxation.
Finally, unlike some of its rivals, the 3008 is available with all engines from the first finish.

The Peugeot 3008 takes care of appearances

Peugeot has not skimped on the means to make its 3008 attractive, even for the basic version. It comes standard with a Metallic Obsession Blue shade, more flattering than the white, gray or black paints that are still too common. 19-inch rims are also delivered at no additional cost. The external allocation also includes LED projectors.
The passenger compartment is covered in gray fabric, on the door panels, the dashboard and the central tunnel. The driver faces him two screens, one for the instrumentation and the other for the multimedia part. However, you will have to put your hand in your pocket to be entitled to the large double curved slab of the Panoramic iCockpit, billed at 790 euros as an option. The entry-level version therefore does without the third screen dedicated to shortcuts as standard.
The equipment list also includes dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In the driving aid department, cruise control with limiter function is included in the prize, as is lane departure warning et parking assistance with camera.
The Peugeot 3008 is a good student, whether in terms of presentation or equipment. Its price has increased with the arrival of the third generation, but for the moment this does not seem to penalize it. We will still have to see how he does against Renault Austral. The latter sees its prices start around 2,000 euros lower, with more or less equivalent equipment.
