A septuagenarian died after being struck and then dragged several meters by a vehicle Monday morning at the intersection of Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard and Michel-Fragasso Street, in Quebec.

The Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) was called to intervene around 10:25 a.m. Monday morning on the grounds of a commercial building.

The 75-year-old pedestrian was violently hit by the motorist. She was then transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A perimeter was established in the parking lot of a business where the vehicle and the woman’s body were found in order to protect the scene of the accident.

Investigators as well as technicians from the Forensic Identification Unit were dispatched to the site in order to reconstruct the facts and establish the causes and circumstances of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old woman, was arrested. She is expected to be charged with dangerous driving causing death.
