For his debut as Anderlecht coach, David Hubert had achieved some very good things. But since he was officially named coach, the results have been more difficult to follow.
This Sunday in the topper, Sporting will never have been able to claim even a point against the Blauw en Zwart. And Hubert made no secret of it. At the end of the meeting, he wanted to be realistic.
“I try to stay realistic”
“I try to remain realistic in everything I say. The realistic analysis today is to say that we did not deserve more. We were inferior to Bruges on many levels, we had too many players who were below their level”, he declared to RTBF at the final whistle.
“We made the task easier for Bruges with this first goal. We wanted to start the game well and spend the first 15 minutes in this stadium… and in the end, when we see how ‘given’ the first goal is , we are only asking for problems,” added Hubert.
“We weren’t fantastic”
And Hubert concluded: “We never had the possibility of getting into the match. We managed to stay up at half-time. We tried to adjust certain things, to have another way of coming out of the locker room by rectifying some things We weren’t fantastic but we played a better second half Unfortunately, we had too many moments where we gave gifts…”
In Tubize in the Belgian Cup, it will be a question of not giving any gifts to progress to the round of 16 and thus take a step towards a possible trophy, the first in eight years for Anderlecht.
