The suspense will soon end. This Monday, October 28, the winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or will be revealed. If Vinicius Junior was among the most cited suitors, the new best player in the world should ultimately be Manchester City's Spanish midfielder Rodri.

Real Madrid was even annoyed by comments communicated to AFP. “If the award criteria do not designate Vinicius as the winner, these same criteria should designate Carvajal as the winner. As this was not the case, it is obvious that the UEFA Golden Ball does not respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid is not where it is not respected”the Madrid club was annoyed. But then, how does the Ballon d’Or vote take place?

What does the Ballon d’Or reward?

Until 2021, the name of the Ballon d'Or rewarded the work of the best player over the calendar year. Subsequently, in 2022, this switched to rewarding the performances of the season, i.e. from 1is July to the following June 30.

Who votes for the Ballon d'or?
