On June 10, it will be four months since the body of Cynthia Paveaux, aged 45, was discovered in an abandoned villa in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon. The forty-year-old had disappeared two days earlier after leaving work. His sister and niece testify for the first time, fearing that their loved one would be forgotten.

Since Cynthia’s funeral on March 19 in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), her sister Jennifer and her niece Mathilde, 13, have had no news of the progress of the investigation.

“We feel left out,” Jennifer confides to BFM Lyon. It’s a feeling she says she felt as soon as her sister disappeared. “We learned of his death on TV,” she explains.

Cynthia Paveaux, 45, was a cleaner in a school. She had two children, aged 19 and 21, and lived in Saint-Genis-Laval. His body was found on February 11 in the basement of a construction site located in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, bound hand and foot.

Heard by investigators in March

It was an extremely traumatic time for the family who live in the north of France. Mathilde, the niece of Cynthia Paveaux, of whom she was also godmother, has since sunk into depression.

“I feel empty, I have the impression that a part of me has flown away with her,” she confides. She describes a close relationship with her godmother: “I had a bond like I’ve never had with anyone.”

In March, Jennifer but also her sister, her brother and her parents were interviewed by investigators from the research section in Lyon. They were able to tell what Cynthia was like and provide information about her private life.

From the first days of the investigation, a former companion of Cynthia Paveaux was presented as the main suspect. He could have taken it out on Cynthia following their recent breakup.

“The whole family was broken by this tragedy”

But to date, this man has not been located and it is a situation that particularly worries Jennifer and her daughter. “We are afraid that he will cause other victims, as long as we do not know if the investigators have found him we will always remain in fear,” explains Jennifer.

“It haunts us, it makes us stressed, we ask ourselves lots of questions, we want to know where he is, he has done so much harm to our family, we can no longer rebuild ourselves, the whole family has been broken by “All we are waiting for is for justice to do its job and for him to be punished for what he did,” she continues.

Contacted, the Lyon public prosecutor’s office indicates that the judicial investigation for murder by a spouse on February 15 is still in progress, and that no communication regarding this case is planned at this stage.
