A violent fire broke out this Thursday morning outside Lacaune, destroying two houses.

It was around 9 a.m. this Thursday, May 30, when the Lacaune firefighters received a call for a house fire in the hamlet of Escoubilhac, 7 km from Lacaune. It was a neighbor who raised the alarm, having seen the flames coming out of the windows from a distance.

The Lacaune firefighters were quickly on the scene and began their intervention under the orders of Lieutenant Mickaël Bosc with two fire engines and 5 personnel. Despite all their efforts, the fire destroyed the first house and then spread to the adjoining one.

On the arrival of the captain, Michel Cristol, from the Albi center, the latter obtained reinforcement from Murat’s staff, a large ladder from Castres and a water carrier vehicle. The captain also requested reinforcement from Operational Health Support (SSO) with the presence of the local nurse and two officers to analyze the risk of possible collapse of the two buildings.

At 1 p.m., it was clear that the two secondary houses, uninhabited, had been completely destroyed, fortunately without causing any casualties. Living in Hérault, the two informed owners had arrived on site and could only observe the damage before taking photos to contact their insurance companies. Firefighters still remained on site to put out the last fumaroles.
