A cat struggling with obesity must find the courage to overcome his water phobia for his health

Moses, a 9-year-old ginger cat, suffers from obesity. It weighed, in fact, 10 kilograms, the weight of a French Bulldog and double what it should normally display on the scale.

To lose weight and after using different approaches without results, this cat had to learn to swim, something that most of his peers don’t like. He had to overcome his fear of water by indulging in hydrotherapy, reports the New York Post.

Its owner Jenna Joshi was out of solutions after putting him on different diets and treatments; the quadruped was unable to lose weight. The situation has changed since Moses runs on an underwater treadmill.

He does this at the veterinary clinic where his mistress works as a nursing manager, at Wellesbourne in England.

It’s the hydrotherapist Olivia Stokes who is in charge of the feline and monitors its progress. “ When he arrived at our home, Moses weighed almost 10 kgshe says. His owner said he had previously been on a diet and had been encouraged to exercise, but had still not managed to lose weight. So we decided to try a different approach with hydrotherapy. »

Olivia Stokes adds that it is rather rare to use hydrotherapy with cats, because the majority of them do not like water. It is especially dogs who constitute the majority of the patient base in this area. Besides, Moses is the first cat the therapist has taken care of in 5 years of activity.

“Proud of Moses’ progress”

As expected, the beginnings of Moses were not simple. “ He needed a lot of encouragement because he was resistant to treatment “, explain Olivia Stokes. She had to try many tricks to convince him to run in the water. She finally found the right method; run him on the treadmill dry, then add the water very gradually to the basin.
