Nathan Meade pleads guilty to murder of Scott Devereaux in Chaleur region

Nathan Meade, accused of second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter Wednesday at the courthouse in Campbellton, New Brunswick.

Nathan Meade admits to having caused the death of Scott Devereaux39 years old, from Jacquet Riveron November 6, 2022 at Nash Creeka locality between Belledune and Charlo, in the Chaleur region.

Nathan Meadethen aged 39, fatally shot the victim in the chest with a gunshot in front of the residence of a mutual friend, on Route 134.

He then hid the body behind a shed.

Scott Devereaux died on November 6, 2022 at the age of 39.

It was by chance that the murder was discovered. Members of the Chaleur region detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had gone to the scene as part ofanother matteraccording to what they reported at the time.

Having found it on site Nathan Meadethe gendarmes asked him if they could speak to Mr. Devereaux.

He can’t talk to you now, I just shot himreplied Meadeaccording to the statement of facts presented to the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick.

The suspect, who resided in Nash Creekwas then arrested.

Originally charged with second degree murder, Nathan Meade had pleaded not guilty. He informed the judge Tracey DeWareWednesday, that he was changing his plea.

Nathan Meade will return to court on July 8 to hear his sentence.
