“Since reports this morning of a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, we have lost contact with the staff there,” said WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on X.
“This development is deeply worrying given the number of patients being treated and people finding refuge there,” he added.

He said WHO and partner agencies arrived at the hospital on Wednesday evening and managed to transfer 23 patients and 26 caregivers to the main Al-Shifa hospital in the Palestinian territory.
“Kamal Adwan Hospital is overwhelmed with nearly 200 patients and a constant stream of horrific trauma cases. Added to this are hundreds of people seeking shelter,” the WHO director-general said. “Access to hospitals across Gaza is becoming incredibly more difficult and exposing our staff to unnecessary danger.”
He called for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of hospitals, patients, health professionals and humanitarian workers.
Israel launched a major air and ground offensive in northern Gaza this month, saying it wanted to prevent Hamas militants from regrouping there.
