It is Baie-Comois Paul Lord, involved among other things in minor , who receives the title of exemplary volunteer in sport and leisure on the North Shore.

Indeed, Mr. Lord is the recipient of the Dollard-Morin prize which highlights voluntary commitment to the organization and holding of sports or leisure activities. The Ministry of Sport, Recreation and Outdoors made the official announcement on October 25.

Paul Lord was involved in games or tournaments organized by the Baie-Comeau Minor Basketball Association, the Baies Polyvalente and the RSEQ Côte-. He has supervised more than 3,666 games in three years. He also guides referees, whether beginners or experienced, and supports coaches by filming and commenting on matches.

Baie-Comois is not at its first tributes. In 2002, during the Côte-Nord Student Sports Excellence Gala, he was recognized as the official who had contributed the most to the development of sport in the region, then he was named official of the year at the Gala. Meritas Leisure and Sport Côte-Nord.

In 2016, he received a tribute award from the same organization, before becoming a supervisor at the Provincial Refereeing Committee camp in 2018.

Note that the Dollard-Morin prize was introduced in 1992 by the Ministry of Education to highlight the efforts of Quebec volunteers and to encourage other citizens to get involved in their community.

“I would like to sincerely congratulate you, Mr. Lord, for your exemplary participation as a volunteer in our region. This award honors you and demonstrates our gratitude for everything you bring to the North Shore. Thank you for everything,” comments the minister responsible for the North Shore, Kateri Champagne Jourdain.

“Your involvement brings energy and dynamism to young people, which motivates them and gives them a taste for playing this wonderful sport that is basketball. You make a difference in their academic and sporting career,” adds the MP for René-Lévesque, Yves Montigny.
